I’m really digging how Jessie Malakouti and her toy boys are rolling out her first single “Push It” and that’s not just because it features one of my favorite rappers at the moment, Yelawolf. Not content with success on the pop charts, Jessie released a remix EP featuring a bunch of sick remixes of the track including the one by Skeet Skeet that I posted previously. You can preview these remixes on her YouTube channel and purchase them on iTunes.
That’s not all. She also enlisted one of RTV’s favorite producers, Doctor Rosen Rosen, to make a remix of the track and, in my opinion, it is one of the Doctor’s best so far. When I first played it, I couldn’t focus on anything else. I about fell off of my chair once the track hit 3:59 (I even tweeted about it). All I’m saying, I want to see more Jessie Malakouti and Doctor Rosen Rosen collaborations in the future and lucky for me, it will happen. The Doctor himself stated on his blog to “stay tuned for some original tunes we did together.” YES.
Below is the Official “Un-Official” Video for Skeet Skeet’s remix of “Push It” that I previously posted. I’m assuming that means that the video incorporates clips from the official music video to give a us a preview of what to expect. If that’s the case, the video looks insane.
Not many pop remixes appear on RemixTheVideo, well, unless they are produced by Doctor Rosen Rosen. Apparently, he first heard Madison’s “Lights Low” half a year ago and went nuts over the song. Obviously, a remix by the Doctor was in store for the track and here it is. Madison is hot new rising NYC pop artist who recently released her EP, The Noise Some People Make. You can get it over at her website noiseofmadison.com.
Not going to lie. I’m a sucker for Doctor Rosen Rosen’s pop remixes. Whether he is remixing Drake, Weezer or La Roux, he produces tracks that are always fresh. He has gotten me to respect and like pop music again. He recently released two dope remixes of M.I.A. and Natalia Kills. The first I wanted to highlight is his remix of M.I.A.’s “Internet Connection”. You might have noticed the song as the bonus track from her most recent album, Maya. Now, I am not the biggest fan of M.I.A.’s latest release and I know I am not alone in that opinion. Luckily, Doctor Rosen Rosen was able to give this song his song his signature touch making it much more listenable than the original.
This next remix is an official remix of Natalia Kills’ “Mirrors” off her remix EP. He takes what was more reminiscent of 80′s synth pop and gives it a more modern pop touch. You can watch the music video of the original on YouTube to see what I am talking about. You can purchase this via iTunes or you can head over to Doctor Rosen Rosen’s Soundcloud to download it.
Doctor Rosen Rosen also recently produced and co-wrote KAY’s latest single “M.A.J.O.R.”. It’s nice to see some originals get released from the Doctor. Apparently, the two met about a year ago in LA and instantly clicked . This is just one of many collaborations between Doctor Rosen Rosen and Kay. If you like this, keep your eyes out for KAY’s debut album which is schedule to be released next year via Interscope Records.
What? You thought there was already too many La Roux “In for the Kill” remixes? Not if Doctor Rosen Rosen wants to add his darker pop sound to the song. This is one of the best “In for the Kill” remixes I have heard since Skream’s epic dubstep remix of the song. Unfortunately, the song is for stream only as it is one of the official remixes of the song. I am sure you will be able to purchase it on iTunes or Amazon in the near future. Definitely check this out!
Update:
Download now available for this sick track!
We already know Doctor Rosen Rosen is way underrated as a producer and has made some of the illest remixes these past few years. I never realized how dope he can be with his own vocals on the track. Need an example? Just listen to the song “Eat, Pray, Fu*k”. The song is titled after Elizabeth Gilbert’s book Eat, Pray, Love, which was recently brought to the big screen. I am huge fan of the type of music Doctor Rosen Rosen produces. He could probably get me to listen to Ke$ha (first terrible singer I could think of) after remixing one of her tracks. Combining his own production talents with his singing talents, you can really see hear how truly talented he is as a musician. Doctor, I think we need a refill of original music from you.
“3 years ago I put out this song and now Julia Robert’s won’t return my phone calls.
What the fu*k?” – Doctor Rosen Rosen
Doctor Rosen Rosen is our fourth Artist Spotlight and for a good reason. Many remixes are amateurish in their quality but everything the Doctor has released is what you would expect to be released on the radio. It is no wonder Lady Gaga tapped him to be featured on her Telephone: The Remixes EP. Once he finds a song he molds it into his darker pop-ier world (find out more about Doctor Rosen Rosen in our exclusive interview with him). Check below to enter his darker pop-ier world of music.
More music from Doctor Rosen Rosen after the jump including songs from his Lily Allen remix album titled It’s Not Me, It’s Doctor Rosen Rosen. Read more.
RemixTheVideo recently had the opportunity to send some questions over to producer and remixer Doctor Rosen Rosen. We have created two video remixes to date from some of the work the Doctor has done including his remix of Weezer’s “I Want You To” and his remix of Drake’s “Forever”. We also featured his remix of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” that was featured on her Telephone: The Remixes EP. The Doctor has an uncanny ability to recreate songs in a way that alters the mood of the song, which you will be able to see on our Artist Spotlight on Doctor Rosen Rosen. Be sure to check out the Doctor’s website at DoctorRosenRosen.com.
Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ is the second single from her platinum album ‘The Fame Monster.’ This song can be found on the ‘Telephone: The Remixes EP,’ which features 9 ‘Telephone’ remixes by some of today best remix artists including Kaskade, Passion Pit, Crookers, Alphabeat, DJ Dan, Electrolightz, Tom Nevillem, and Ming.
Here is another Drake remix. There are many remixes out there for the song ‘Forever’ but I believe this is the best one out there. Check it out and don’t forget to comment what you think of the song/video.
