Doctor Rosen Rosen

How about one more Doctor Rosen Rosen production? This latest one is an original from his artist Meg Myers. I loved her track on his Girls Vol. 1 and this one is just as great. She has an amazing voice and combined with Rosen’s production, the combination is unbeatable.

It is no secret I am a huge fan of Doctor Rosen Rosen’s productions. The Doctor never seems to fail at making a great remix, often taking the original song to new levels. His originals are just as great too. Over the past year or so, he has been building a collection of unreleased songs from today’s top up and coming Pop artists and is now releasing them slowly, volume by volume, in a series titled Girls.

Volume 1 is the first of the series and features the likes of Jessie & The Toy Boys, Meg Myers, Kay and Anjulie. In my opinion, the production on this compilation is definitely the high point as can be expected. My favorite song is by far “Poison” by newcomer Meg Myers, an unique mixture of Pop and Grunge Rock. It is almost as if Kurt Cobain and Britney Spears had a baby and this came out. Okay, maybe not Britney Spears per se but you get what I mean.

One of my favorite Pop producers, Doctor Rosen Rosen, recently announced a new series of EPs titled Girls that will feature four original collaborations between himself and a different guest vocalist on each track. The first volume of the series is due out August 15th and will feature Jessie & The Toy Boys, Kay, Anjulie, and Meg. Below is the first leak off the EP titled “Five O’Clock” featuring Jessie & The Toy Boys. Check out what Doctor Rosen Rosen had to say about the track below.

“Around that time, I was listening to a lot of the 80s girls groups that were produced by Prince (Vanity 6, Sheila E, Appolonia), which inspired the punchy Linndrum-sample-heavy beat of the song. A day before our session, I started the track and came up with the pre-chorus “Hello Hello Hello.” I was nervous to show her the idea because she was one of the first artists I worked with in Los Angeles, but she was in to it and we quickly wrote the rest of the song together. One of the things I love about working with Jessie, is that her lyrics always engaging and paint a vivid story… in this case “you’ve got till five o’clock to get your shit out.” – Doctor Rosen Rosen

The good doctor has done it again. This time transforming Graffiti6′s soulful hit “Annie You Save Me” into a much more intense and vibrant song. The heavy strings and a vocal sample similar to that used in Kanye’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” will have you hooked on the song within the first minute. Graffiti6 has already made quite the splash in the U.K. and is currently prepping his U.S. debut to be released later this month. (via ArjanWrites.com)

Man, this remix has me going. I absolutely love it. The original is a quality indie rock track on its own but the good Doctor Rosen Rosen can’t seem to touch anything without turning into gold. In this instance, he transforms “Excuses” into an even catchier and unique single. It leans more pop than indie rock and that is alright with me. The catchy rhythms and chill vocals (and even a little Texas Screw?) gives you no excuse. Download this and plan a trip to the nearest beach. Margaritas and daiquiris a must.

It always interesting to hear Doctor Rosen Rosen’s originals. Most people are familiar with him as the producer who has released some of the best pop remixes to come out in the past few years but his original work is nothing to scoff at.

Take “Weekends” for example, which he recently put up as a free download on his Soundcloud. This song has that eighties vibe that I love and the makings of a hit. Previously released three years ago and still sounds just as fresh today, it is for this reason that there is no doubt in my mind that the Doctor will be Pop music’s go-to producer for years to come.

Early this morning, Britney Spears unveiled the music video for her second single “Till The World Ends”. I thought the video needed to be spiced up a bit, so I decided to make not one but two video remixes of the song to present to you all. One of Doctor Rosen Rosen’s remix and the other of 8BarZ’ remix. The original video was pretty cool by itself but with these two remixes, the video is taken to another level.

As I said before, I felt that the music video didn’t quite match the song. I know the song is called “Till The World Ends” and all but it really doesn’t have that dark vibe to merit the “world is ending” visuals in the music video. Doctor Rosen Rosen’s remix, on the other hand, does. His eerie remix featuring what sounds like a haunting choir leading up to the chorus matches the music video perfectly. It is almost as if they were making the music video to his remix rather than the original.

Now, let’s turn it up a notch with a heavy electro remix from 8BarZ. Although the original song was heavily electro influenced, this remix is much harder, bassier and just plain filthier. It definitely merits the “sicker sicker remix” line repeated throughout the remix.

You see that building falling apart in the video at 1:23? Yeah, that was from the bass. Not the asteroids.

With the release of her album Femme Fatale, Britney Spears has been making the rounds in the media promoting it with performances on Good Morning America to the Jimmy Kimmel Show. It is clear from those performance that the ramp up for her next single “Till The World Ends” is well underway, with the music video for which already in production.

The song is a more standard pop hit than “Hold It Against Me” (who would have thought that Britney would have a dubstep breakdown?) and the pulsing “woah-oh-oh-oh” in it is sure to be getting stuck in everyone’s head after a few listens. I wonder what will come after “Till The World Ends”? I’m thinking it will be “Big Fat Bass” but we’ll see..

Until then, get ready for a flood of remixes to come of Britney’s “Till The World Ends”. The first of which to be released is from the good Doctor Rosen Rosen who flips the song on its head. You remember that “woah-oh-oh-oh” that sounds like a drunken chant at a Football game? Well, the lead up to that now sounds like a dark choir singing to the background of some epic battle.

The song to me has a dash of “Requiem for a Dream” yet still holds to the song’s pop roots. Overall, this remix is a winner and is a great rogue pop rendition of the song that only the Doctor could do.

Doctor Rosen Rosen quietly released this remix of the Cold War Kids’ “Mine Is Yours” this past week. The remix has a slower tempo than his past remixes but still includes distinguishable Doctor Rosen Rosen features such as the vocal loop that begins the track and continues throughout. I had to warm up to this for a bit but now I love it. It’s a relaxing song that’s perfect for one of those low-key days.

I’m really digging how Jessie Malakouti and her toy boys are rolling out her first single “Push It” and that’s not just because it features one of my favorite rappers at the moment, Yelawolf. Not content with success on the pop charts, Jessie released a remix EP featuring a bunch of sick remixes of the track including the one by Skeet Skeet that I posted previously. You can preview these remixes on her YouTube channel and purchase them on iTunes.

That’s not all. She also enlisted one of RTV’s favorite producers, Doctor Rosen Rosen, to make a remix of the track and, in my opinion, it is one of the Doctor’s best so far. When I first played it, I couldn’t focus on anything else. I about fell off of my chair once the track hit 3:59 (I even tweeted about it). All I’m saying, I want to see more Jessie Malakouti and Doctor Rosen Rosen collaborations in the future and lucky for me, it will happen. The Doctor himself stated on his blog to “stay tuned for some original tunes we did together.” YES.

Below is the Official “Un-Official” Video for Skeet Skeet’s remix of “Push It” that I previously posted. I’m assuming that means that the video incorporates clips from the official music video to give a us a preview of what to expect. If that’s the case, the video looks insane.
