Smokey Robotic and Pier Pictures join forces again to present the visual accompaniment to Smokey’s single “Blast Off” off The Shark & The Helicopter LP.

“Shhhhhh…..

This week will be filled with dreams.
And in the haunting, there are realities to embrace that come in different shapes.
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.

Shhhhhh…Let us be that ship that takes you up…” – Smokey Robotic

I would love to have this set up at my place but would hate to live across from me if I did.

4 singing pumpkin faces, tombstones, hand carved pumpkins, strobes, floods and thousands of lights. Most all lights have been changed from incandescent to RGB LED so power consumption is a lot less than previous years. Also DMX added to show. All lights, faces and props are custom made (DIY) by me except for the roof line which are CCRs. Controlling channels have gone up 8X from last year. 1144 channels. Light-O-Rama. Riverside, CA

What could cause me to break out of my senior year, job search inspired seclusion? A new Hoodie Allen music video, no doubt.

This time around, Allen made a down right hilarious video for “James Franco,” which was on Leap Year, his mixtape from this past summer.

The most crazy part of the video? The fact that he got the REAL James Franco to be in it! Or, the seemingly very real bike crash at 2:40. Your call.

Music VideoThere really is no lack of good music these days with so many people doing so many different things, yet somehow, most of it still manages to all blend together and get lost in the mix. So as I’m sitting here watching videos, debating if I should post the new Dream, B.o.B, Logic, Jon Connor or one of the other countless dope things to recently come out, I come across this video from Educated Hustlers.

It’s nothing exceptionally special. I mean they don’t out-spit the terminator, they don’t out flash B.o.B and they definitely don’t out-west-coast these guys, but who could? Instead, they just rhyme about what they know, how they see it and how they feel. And there’s something legit about just doing your own thing and doing it well.

In my union smokin’ westin, ready to quit collect / So I’m injectin’ my intellect and infectin’ the current game … Hoping the world accept me for my vigirious verses

Duck Sauce, or A-Trak and Arman Van Helden more specifically, just dropped what is arguably the most outrageous video of 2011. The only video I can think of that even comes close to touching the absurdity of this video is Chromeo’s “When The Night Falls” video which came out last August.

I’m not going to give anything away, but I will say, don’t open this if you are in front of both your grandmother and little sister. I learned this the hard way. Best moment in the video? The dance moves around 1:50, trust me.

We here at RTV love Florence + The Machine and especially the remixes of their songs. Florence Welch has an incredibly strong and beautiful voice that fits very well with many music genres. This makes them easily a “victim” for them to be remixed, and this time it is their new single “Shake It Out” that is at stake. For the official remixes they unlisted The Weeknd and the one and only Benny Benassi to produce them.

“Shake It Out” is the second single from their second album “Ceremonials”. The original song is very down tempo as their songs usually are but builds its way up with a strong chorus that helps the rest of the song rise and become more powerful.

The Weeknd’s remix is much more gloomy and dark in its expression than the original and Benny’s remix, which makes sense if you listen to the lyrics:

“Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play”

Listen: Florence + The Machine – Shake It Out (The Weeknd Remix)

The last remix is from Benny Benassi and unlike The Weeknd’s remix, it has a positive feeling to it. He used Florence’s vocals to its fullest and gives her space when she is singing. I must admit that this is my favorite but hey that’s just my opinion.

I knew two seconds into watching this video that I was going to love it. That’s because it contains the same sample as one of my favorite underground cuts Mission’s “Disturbing Behavior”. That and the fact that I have always been a fan of Everlast, whether he is doing his solo thing or putting out new material with his group La Coka Nostra (his other group, not House of Pain). “I Get By” is a song fitting for the times, especially with #OWS growing larger and larger each day.

Radical Something just released the fourth video from their debut album We Are Nothing. This just might be one of my favorites from the super group. Although, the album is filled with many great songs. If you have yet to download it yourself, what are you waiting for? Head on over to their Facebook and download it for free.

This is a little change of pace from the usual content we post on RTV but I recently stumbled upon rising Indie Pop star Grimes and loved what I heard. Her music has a strange quality to it that draws me in. Might be the atmospheric vocals and production, the trippy visuals, who knows. All I know is that I like it and wanted to share it with you.
