Chi Duly unleashed this project on Tuesday and in a matter of hours, The Weeknd himself posted it on his Tumblr and for good reason, this tape is fire. Read what Chi Duly had to say about the project and download it below.
“Balloons of Haus is house music for the “I’m not really into techno” folks. It’s uptempo but more to the point (free of those minute long intros/breakdowns of arbitrary ambience). The concept was born of my interest in bringing The Weeknd’s vibe to a DJ set. He’s talking about what every other artist you hear in the club is talking about except he’s artistic, emotionally believable. The Weeknd’s subject matter is already club friendly. The pace however was only bedroom friendly. My project still retains that laid back, mellow uptempo R&B vibe but picks up on a harder electro vibe with the Dirty Diana remix. It’s all around a very diverse range of house music genres.” – Chi Duly
Coming off a his recent grammy nomination for his work on Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, Clinton Sparks’ official released My Awesome Mixtape II. The mixtape boasts original production as well as remixes to some of Clinton’s favorite songs including a special audio forward by Samuel L. Jackson. Yes, Samuel L. Jackson. The tape boats features from Swedish House Mafia, Pitbull, Rick Ross, and much more. Check out the mixtape below and hit the link to download the tracked out version.
It’s been a minute since I’ve thrown something up here – my apologies guys. Graduation is becoming a real thing… and so is the job search leading up to it. However, when a new Zak Downtown track drops, there’s just no excuse not to post it.
Not sure if this bit is attached to a project or not, but I sure hope it is. The track samples Brooklyn-based indie band Emil & Friends‘ song “C.U.P.I.D.” It’s really a perfect track for the day after V-day, but I’m sure they didn’t plan that or anything.
Dunson, formerly known as Kenton Dunson, just dropped the first single off his upcoming mixtape The Investment. The track entitled “Count On It” features amazing production from the Grammy-nominated producers Phatboiz as well as clever lyrics from Dunson himself. I have had the song replay ever since it hit my inbox (my roommates can attest to this) and I am sure you will hooked on it as well. Read what Dunson had to say about the track and check out the single below.
“”Count on It” represents the unapologetic confidence you have when you have put your work in. I love how it incorporates a childhood sample that so many of us are familiar with. That helped me keep it ambitious but not overly aggressive! The underground success of Creative Destruction 2 opened up some opportunities for me. One of those opportunities was to work with Grammy-Nominated production crew, Phatboiz. After a few sessions together, they saw my passion and started to hear my increased lyrical development. That led them to cook up this track for me. I heard it and came up with the concept and verses immediately! We laid it down one night in NYC and the energy and vibe was incredible so we knew this would be the first to release off the upcoming project entitled The Investment.” – Dunson
Mike Stud just dropped his first new release since his mixtape A Toast To Tommy. The track entitled “Critic” is a laid back address to his critics. With success, critics always follow and by the looks of things Mike Stud is headed towards even more success. “I’m gonna to do it big, XXL” raps in one line of the song and he wasn’t lying. Check out his feature on XXL here. Oh, did I mention that “Critic” was produced by the grammy nominated producer Brody Brown? Yep, the same producer behind Bruno Mars’ “Grenades”.
Silver Medallion and Feature Cuts join forces on “Drop Out, Kiss Girls”, a banging new Electro/Dubstep single. The track is definitely one of those tracks that people will be singing along to at festivals. It is also very unique sounding and I think the two are on to something with it. Stay tuned for more collaborations between Silver Medallion and Feature Cuts. The two have a project planned together for a late spring release.
“Drop Out, Kiss Girls is the saga of America’s wasted youth, with the world crumbling around us, its only natural to take the time we have and chase love and music, the only two things which really matter.” – Silver Medallion
Chi Duly just released his latest remix off his upcoming Balloons of Haus project, due out this Tuesday. The project is composed of remixes of songs from The Weeknd’s three mixtapes. If they all sound like this, I think it is going to be a pretty good project..
New single off Seer’s upcoming wOO, the overdose tape entitled “Out Of the wOrld”. Check out what Seer had to say about the song below.
“‘Out Of this wOrld’ is a tropic explosion. !llmind crafted the beat in 15 minutes and the song just flowed out of me. i imagine the ghost of a rasta dancing playfully through nyc as if being chased by a swarm of bumblebees. it is a celebration of feeling in and out of your body, in the world but out of it simultaneously. it features my brother father dude from our group smokey robotic on background vocals, whose voice slices like a honey knife through the skeleton rattling rhythms of !llmind’s un-quantized style.” – Seer
Never thought I hear a Skrillex cover using Xylophones (Marimba, Cajon, whatever it is) but given the internet’s track record, I should never have doubted it. Thank you Coop3r Cov3rs. Careful, don’t go blowing out your speakers playing this banger.
Fusing elements of Pop, R&B and Hip Hop, Leonard Friend comes with a sound that is somewhat reminiscent of times past with a modern edge. You can say it is a mix of Michael Jackson, Prince with The Neptunes, Pete Rock and The RZA. The end result is not only catchy but incredibly good music. Take a listen and download the project below.
