Fusing elements of Pop, R&B and Hip Hop, Leonard Friend comes with a sound that is somewhat reminiscent of times past with a modern edge. You can say it is a mix of Michael Jackson, Prince with The Neptunes, Pete Rock and The RZA. The end result is not only catchy but incredibly good music. Take a listen and download the project below.

This week rocks. First Milkman’s Fragments, now this FREE Bassnectar EP?

Following the release of the Bassnectar’s recent album, Divergent Spectrum, Lorin has now released an awesome remix EP. The EP features remixes from the likes of The Glitch Mob, Beats Antique, Terravita, ill.Gates, and Steve Aoki.

Out of the lot, I’d say that Steve Aoki’s remix of “Red Step” and The Glitch Mob’s remix of “Heads Up” definitely take the cake. Of course, it helps that they are two of my favorite producers.

Nothing is more appropriate than a new Milkman EP to push me through my last week of Winter Break, before my last semester of college.

Although it’s been a while since we’ve covered anything from Milkman, this EP is purely awesome. It consists of four tracks, which each seem to defy strict genre categorization. Of the four, my favorites are most certainly “Revelry” and “So Much For Clockwork”. That’s not to say the other two tracks aren’t awesome as well – they are.

As well, if your unfamiliar with Milkman, check out “Breaking Free”, an older song of his which you will undoubtably love.

Here goes The Weeknd’s third mixtape of 2011 entitled Echoes of Silence. I would say this one is on par with their debut and has been on repeat for days. A must download, especially considering his amazing cover of Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana”.

It’s gonna be a good weekend.

Zak Downtown finally dropped his new mixtape Downtown Delinquents, and it’s bumpin. The tape features 10 original tracks produced by DJ Fresh Direct among other NY producers. There are features from the likes Hoodie Allen, Murda Mook, and UK pop/hip-hop artist Master Shortie. While I guess you could categorize the mixtape as “rap,” it’s so heavily influenced by electronic music that categorization is pointless; I love it.

To prove my point about the electronic influence, just check out “Good Feeling,” which is non-coincidentally my fav track in the lot. “Gift or a Curse” comes in at a close second – it’s super laid-back. I also suggest “Bad Man’s World” and “On the Road.”

In all, I’m really happy with the tape; Zak came through strong. Check out the full tape stream below, and then download it for free even further down. Show Zak a Facebook like for his hard work.

Lupe Fiasco, being the gentleman that he is, dropped another mixtape on Thanksgiving, titled Friend Of The People: I Fight Evil. Finally having come out of my turkey stupor, I’m blasting it way too loud right now. Here’s a couple of the better songs from it, although the whole thing is great. How could it be bad when it samples the likes of Sebastian, Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, and Kaskade, among others?

Here’s some Bassnectar/Ellie Goulding goodness.

Oh, and did I mention M83?

Some old soul from L’Orange.

“Billie Holiday is my muse. Her creative vision and stylistic integrity have influenced both my music and my writing. When I decided to work on this project, I wanted to approach it with respect for her music. I wanted these remixes to be both inspired by and dedicated to the life and craft of one of the most innovative and soulful singers of all time. Each track is designed to represent a significant part of Billie Holiday’s life.” – L’Orange

The Denver collective, The Foodchain, just dropped their sophomore album Brunch today and all I can say is that it is DOPE. They really stepped up their game on this release compared to their last album Corpses and I can’t tell how excited I am to see such dope Hip Hop come out of Colorado. There are many highlights on this album and it is hard to pick down only a few that are must listens. If you are short on time, check out “Basically” and “Maneuvers” and of course their previous leaks “Dear Industry” and “Traction”.

We here at RemixTheVideo are proud to present SUBMiT’s latest mixtape Distance To Infinity, a collection of dope rhymes from the Atlanta native over solid production. If the first two leaks, “Life of the Party” and “Victory Lap”, weren’t enough to convince you that this is a must download, take a listen below. A couple of my favorites excluding the leaks include “Sober Man’s Thoughts” and “Tumblr Chick”. Download and be sure to become a fan of SUBMiT on Facebook.
