For fans of Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Mr. Hudson and Jamie Lidell, I just recently got tipped off on a dope new artist named Leonard Friend. His sound is a nice mixture R&B/funk/pop and incredibly catchy. You can listen and download the first single “Serious Music” off his upcoming Lynyrd Frynd EP. It is unlike any other song I’ve heard recently and you can preview his upcoming music video for the track here.
Last night Fitty decided to leak a track off his upcoming project, which has now been revealed to be a free 10-track mixtape, titled The Big 10. Supposedly, it’s set to drop this week at some point. Hopefully, some of the other tracks will outshine this one, because in my opinion, this track is lackluster.
This new mash from The White Panda immediately caught my attention. Thanks to Adele, a great eerie lead-up drops into the Deadmau5 womp you know and love. It’s been a minute since I’ve liked a mashup this much.
I was wondering when this collaboration would come.
Zak Downtown and Hoodie Allen have toured together for a while now and their styles are somewhat similar, so, it makes sense they they sound great together. This track will be on Zak’s forthcoming mixtape, Downtown Delinquents , which is due out on December 1st – get excited.
3oNe3, not to be confused with 3Oh!3, dropped this track in our Soundcloud dropbox (songs submitted via Soundcloud will be given priority in posting) and I immediately fell in love with the sample. 3oNe3 is not too shabby on the microphone either.
Lupe Fiasco, being the gentleman that he is, dropped another mixtape on Thanksgiving, titled Friend Of The People: I Fight Evil. Finally having come out of my turkey stupor, I’m blasting it way too loud right now. Here’s a couple of the better songs from it, although the whole thing is great. How could it be bad when it samples the likes of Sebastian, Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, and Kaskade, among others?
Check out this very cool video mashup from C.FLO. He combined over 60 sources into a highly entertaining ten minute combination of film and music.
“By combining over 60 sources to create this 9-minute megamash, cutting together material from electro/top 40 tracks and various movies and TV shows, C.FLO: Chop Culture embodies the current demand of the ADD generation for fast paced, relatable, and recognizable content.” – C.FLO
3 Stripes and Troublemaker (of King Fantastic) recently teamed up to production a banging new remix of King Fantastic’s “Appreciation”. This remix is just plain dirty. Get it.
“Billie Holiday is my muse. Her creative vision and stylistic integrity have influenced both my music and my writing. When I decided to work on this project, I wanted to approach it with respect for her music. I wanted these remixes to be both inspired by and dedicated to the life and craft of one of the most innovative and soulful singers of all time. Each track is designed to represent a significant part of Billie Holiday’s life.” – L’Orange
