A user on YouTube by the name of DudeFromThe206 asked me on RemixTheVideo’s channel if I could put the original “Otherside” to the new music video for the official remix. I thought about it and decided it was a great idea. I loved both the original and the remix and both in my opinion deserved the visual treatment.
If you are unaware, “Otherside” is off Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ The Vs. EP (download here), which was released for free back in December of 2009. Last October, the duo released the VS. Redux EP (purchase here) commercially containing remixes of tracks from The Vs. EP and Sabzi’s remix of Macklemore’ “The Town”.
The first The Vs. EP was one of the best albums of 2009 and it’s amazing that it was given away completely for free. I can only imagine it would have been too costly to clear the samples used in the album. Music this good doesn’t come around for free to often, so be sure to show support by purchasing the VS. Redux EP on iTunes, attending of their shows or purchasing merchandise on their website. Let’s keep this good music coming.
