It’s people like Adele who remind me that no one is perfect. I mean obviously she’s not everyone’s type, but if you managed to fall in love with her? How could you ever do wrong to anything with that much beauty? I guess we’re all fallible though, right?
September 2011
Remember that amazing video for “What You Need”? The one we all couldn’t tell if it was an official video or not? Well, it is gone, at least the original upload (you can still watch it here).
Now, what a great way to treat your fans, especially ones who paid attention to just about every detail of The Weeknd’s themes portrayed in their own photos. These people who made it obviously spent a great deal of time making the video and it is largely in line with The Weeknd’s branding, so why go ahead and take it down?
Did The Weeknd even try to contact the creators of the video? If the uploader is not making money on YouTube than what is the harm? Why take it down? In my opinion, this is a poor move by The Weeknd. At least, we now know all along that the video was really unofficial. Who knew?
Just in case The Weeknd had trouble finding out who to contact (and happens to be reading this as well), I’ll help them contact the creator of the video. His name is Cole Walliser. He grew up in Vancouver and now lives in Los Angeles. He has directed videos for the likes of P!nk, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Ocean Grove Band, and The LXD and also has credits on videos from LL Cool J, Britney Spears, Toni Braxton, and Beat Freaks.
You can check out more of Cole’s work and contact him at ColeWalliser.com. He also did a really interesting interview with The Vancouver Sun talking about the video, which you can read here.

I just want to warn you before listening. This is a remix of Liberty by Les Strobelights. It is epic and might just blow your eardrums. Okay, you have warned. I accept no liability for what happens next.
Purchase: Liberty – ThunderFist feat. Whiskey Pete (Les Strobelights Remix)

It’s a been awhile since we last featured Dru B Shinin’ and there really is no good reason why we haven’t. The guy puts out damn good music and deserves more exposure. He recently released another free album titled The CleanUp that is slightly more crossover and tangible than his previous releases. You can really see the progression of his artistry on this album.
One of my favorites off the album is “Her Song”, which he made a really great music video for. The song is something I think all will enjoy. It is not just “her song.” Oh, and my favorite quote from it is..
“She don’t care about no multiple syllable rhymes. She don’t know what they are man.” – Dru B Shinin’

Another feel good jam off the album..
Watch: Dru B Shinin’ – Blue Skies
And the album in its entirety. Trust me, don’t sleep on this.

It only took me a few seconds into watching this video to know that I was going to love it and love it I did. “People” is one of those anthems for the world to unite to. If this is your first time hearing about Sintropez, you are not alone. They are a relatively new pop electro band from Paris formed by Will Katrine, who is the producer and lead singer of the band. Will used to produce Hip Hop & Electro music for French artists, so he is far from inexperienced.

Sometimes I like to talk a lot about a specific track, really though, I just like to talk a lot in general. But other times it’s best to just sit back, watch and listen.
Watch: Tabi Bonney – Parachute (Music Video)
You know it’s been a busy, yet awesome, summer when you somehow manage to miss a music video this cool. Especially when it’s from a group of kids that you know personally and love their music.
I stumbled across the video thanks to a friend on Facebook while I was hanging out in a hostel in San Franciso and as soon as the music starts the Italian kid sitting next to me who barely speaks English turns his head around and says “Rolling Stone?”
To which I proudly replied, “Nah, my friends. Come watch.”
The Dirty Names kick off their next tour on Oct. 5th in Cocoa Beach, FL. And it turns out that even if I am 2 months late on this video, I still have a legitimate reason for posting it today because it just won Best Music Video at the Williamsburg International Film Fest.
Watch: Dirty Names – Salt Water Jackie (Music Video)
