Who is Clever Girl? Frankly, I don’t know. There is scant information out there about the girl (or boy?) behind the mask. However, I do know that whoever it is makes amazing music and hails out of Boston, MA.
Clever Girl’s most recent release is a remix of Rihanna’s “Only Girl In The World”. I cautiously hit play on the track not knowing what to expect. Before I knew it, the remix blew me away and I instantly became a Clever Girl fan. Trust me, once time stamp 0:46 rolls around, you will be out of your chair and dancing before you can say “dance party.” I guess this is what Clever Girl meant when describing the music as truly electronic feel goodness.

Before we get into more remixes, let’s delve into some of Clever Girl’s originals. “Man At Work” takes Clever Girl into slight Dubstep territory with complimenting vocals. With heavy hitting bass and a chorus that defines the song, I am really digging this one.

“Enhance Your Calm” is another Clever Girl original featuring vocals from Brooks Paschal of The Afterlife Kids and Sullivan. This electronic house song is not as hard-hitting as “Man At Work” but still a fast-paced track that almost has a disco feel to it.

Coming back to remixes, Clever Girl recently took a crack at Britney Spears’ latest single “Till The World Ends”. A little slower than the Rihanna remix but dope nonetheless.

This last remix is a favorite of mine. An excellent remix of Imogen Heap’s hit single “Hide and Seek”, which adds a nice electronic backdrop to the largely instrumental-free original.
I guarantee for most of you, you will recognize a very familiar sample at 3:24 (*cough* *Jason Derulo* *cough*). It is very interesting to see where some of the biggest pop songs are sampled from.
