“Never Slow” is the latest release from Tommie Sunshine’s Brooklyn Fire Records. The track displays both their many influences and flexibilities DJs through two different versions, a Brooklyn edit and a Berlin edit. The Brooklyn edit, my favorite of the whole release, represents the retro side of this collaboration while the Berlin edit represents the rough side of Germany with its heavy sub bass. The single release also comes with two remixes from Sharkslayer and Mahesa Utara, both excellent remixes but don’t quite touch the Brooklyn edit in my opinion.
In all seriousness, if the Brooklyn edit doesn’t get your feet moving, I don’t know what will. The throwback DJ breaks mixed into it will have you wishing it was the eighties again. It is reminiscent of the early hip hop tracks except with a much faster tempo and harder bass. I would really like to see a rapper go over this track, preferably Busta Rhymes.
